As the Upperclassmen at Large Senator in SGA, my role is to represent the voices and interests of upperclassmen across the entire campus. I serve as an advocate for upperclass students by addressing their unique needs, such as career preparation, graduation planning, housing concerns, and mental health support. I actively participate in Senate meetings where I contribute to discussions, vote on legislation, and help shape policies that impact the student body. I also collaborate with other senators, student organizations, and university departments to create initiatives that directly benefit upperclassmen. Through ongoing engagement with students, whether through surveys, events, or one-on-one conversations, I ensure their concerns are heard and addressed within SGA. My goal is to make sure upperclass students feel supported, seen, and empowered as they transition toward life after college.
I am a proud Guyanese-American and first-generation college student with aspirations of becoming a lawyer. A unique aspect of my journey is that I moved to the United States just 3.5 years ago, bringing with me a rich cultural perspective that informs my leadership and advocacy. I currently serve as the Upperclassmen at Large Senator in SGA, where I represent the voices of upperclassmen students. In addition to my role in student government, I am the Vice President of Unity in Diversity, Publicist for the Black Law Society, and a Housing Ambassador. Beyond academics, I host a podcast titled LIFE in Influx, where I reflect on personal growth, identity, and the transformative power of change.
