Department / Unit
Upperclassman At-Large Senator

What is your vision for this position? What do you hope to accomplish?

As a at-large senator, I feel that it is important to hear the voice of the body we represent and to make and propose changes that are representative of their thoughts, beliefs, and wishes. All students should have feel like they have an impactful voice in the decision-making process, because we can hear their voice and make their voices heard, because we are serving for them, they elected us. I feel that there are many areas of improvement around campus, some small and some big, such as room for improvement in the Food Services area, which would be a big priority for me. I hope that together we can make a better environment for student life and success around the community.

Please list the following and briefly explain:

  • student organization involvement

  • leadership roles

  • other relevant experiences that make you a strong candidate.

I have many years of experience in leadership, management, and student government. Back home in Southern New Hampshire, I served for 2 years on my local school board, as the Student Representative for all of the high school students in my district. That experience had really allowed me to see what happens on the administrative level of the School Board and how a student can be involved. With that position, I also served 2 years as a member of my High School Student Government. I had really experienced the behind the scenes workings of the student government. I was also the Chair of the Constitution and ByLaws Committee that worked to create an all inclusive Constitution and ByLaws for the Student Government of my High School. In high school, I was also chosen to be a part of 5 honor societies, including National Honor Society, Math, Science, Music, and Spanish Honor Societies. I was the treasurer for 3 of those organization for the past year, and managing money is one of the most important jobs, to properly ensure that the balance sheet it set and in the right place. Outside of schooling, I have been involved with the Boy Scouts of America for 7 years, where I have received my Eagle Scout award in August of 2020. With the Boy Scouts, before you can get your Eagle Scout award, you need to complete 2 or 3 years of leadership positions. In my last year of SGA, I was chosen to serve on the Tuition and Fees Advisory Board, elected to Chair of Academic Affairs Committee, as well as serving in many interim positions. I took lead on the Academic Complaint Form during the No Assignment Period of the beginning of the Spring 2022 Semester and communicated with approximately 150 instructors and worked to resolve student issues. I have also worked to advocate for students to be including in the hiring process of new faculty to departments and ensure that students have a voice.
